It focused on individual styles found outside the mainstream fashion-industry. The featured look is a vibrant fusion of Harajuku sub-styles and contemporary fashion, bringing a fresh and dynamic approach to styling. Tracy Naulak’s fearless use of color, bold layering, and cultural influences transforms this ensemble into a powerful statement of individuality and creativity. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Tracy Naulak, a fashion stylist hailing from Manipur and now crafting her unique style in Delhi. However, it presented a unique opportunity for him to celebrate the religious diversity that is richly documented in Tamil literature and present in the everyday Tamil experience. In this artwork, Leander incorporates both Christian and Muslim symbols—choices that reflect two key ideas. First, divination has been a universal concept across various religions, transcending boundaries of faith. Secondly, Leander emphasizes the inclusivity of Tamil identity by representing Tamil Christians and Muslims, who are integral parts of the Tamil cultural fabric. Through this card, Leander not only explores the concept of fate but also uses it as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the pluralism that exists within Tamil society. About the artist: In recent years, Leander Kevin, a Chennai-born Tamil artist, has embarked on a deeply introspective journey, using his art as a medium to reconnect with his ethnic roots. This personal exploration has transformed his creative practice into an introspective mirror, reflecting his evolving sense of identity and becoming a key element in his path toward self-actualization. This piece emerged during the height of his research into mother goddess cults and worship in Tamil Nadu, viewed through a caste- and class-aware lens. Having felt a strong connection to the divine feminine and Tamil Amman goddesses since childhood, Leander’s depiction of the High Priestess channels that lifelong awareness. In this artwork, Leander portrays the concept of “oraclization” through ritual possession, integrating symbols of femininity such as the moon and snakes. These elements not only represent mysticism and transformation but also reflect his deep admiration for the Divine Feminine. Through this card, Leander honors the power and presence of the goddess figures in Tamil culture, celebrating their influence and spiritual resonance. This striking visual, one Leander has encountered countless times throughout his life, only later revealed its origins in Bharatiyar’s poem, “பெல்ஜியம் நாட்டிற்கு வாழ்த்து / Apostrophe to Belgium,” where the poet symbolizes Belgium’s resilience and strength. What captivates Leander most about this image is how it portrays strength in a way that contrasts the traditional, violent, patriarchal representations.
